Hi everyone,
Well me and Suzie got back from Yellowstone in one piece without getting savaged my any bears or other wild animals, although we did try our best! Suzie showed me everything in the park from the ol’ faithful geyser to mud volcanoes (messy!) to the Grand Canyon (of Yellowstone) with pounding waterfalls to the Lamar valley where we hunted Grizzly’s. AND she even managed to conjure up a few candles for my birthday (see pic) – how amazing is that? For my part I managed to find a couple of places Suzie hadn’t been to before such as the multi-colour grand prismatic spring and the boiling river where a super-hot spring joined a normal river so that we could swim around and find the perfect temperature for each of us. On the animal front we saw a lot: Bald eagles (surprisingly NOT bald but they have white feathers on their head); elk; deer; moose; pronghorns (kind of like antelope); wolves; coyotes and lots and lots of bison, who seemed to love wandering around the park on the roads causing massive traffic jams wherever they went. Suzie wins again by finding the best place to spot animals …. The toilet
! When we hiked to Heart Lake to camp we found the rangers had been kind enough to set up a plastic toilet on the top of a hill in the middle of nowhere- with no walls!! So basically you could sit on the toilet, do what-you-got-to-do (
) and spot animals. The first morning Suzie came running back to grab her camera as there were moose grazing in the field next to our bathroom, talk about your 5-star accommodation
.
Hope you enjoy the pictures,
Rich and Suzie
